Controlling a Biped

There are two ways to manipulate a character in 3d Studio Max, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. These two options are bones or biped.

Bones require each individual bone and join to be created inside a modelled character and the biped is a ready made skeleton model which can be manipulated using its pre-made joints and bones.

Due to its easy manoeuvrability, I have chosen to use the biped method to create my character animation. Below is an example of the biped in motion in the form of walking up a flight of stairs.

Character Animation

Our task for this assignment is to create a character in 3D Studio Max and animate that character to a standard which portrays emotion through body language in any direction we choose.

Being not amazingly skilled in 3D Studio Max, I feel this assignment will be challenging but also a good learning curve for developings skills and techniques.
